Stormwater Poland 2024

What to do with this rain?

The Stormwater Poland 2024 conference took place on 17–18 April 2024 in Poznań and was one of the most practically oriented editions to date. The first day began with a debate on the importance of retention and institutional cooperation in the water sector, followed by discussions on the mission of water utilities, financing of retention investments, and monitoring of stormwater networks.

The second day highlighted the international dimension of the event, featuring presentations from Sweden and South Korea that showcased how different countries are addressing the challenges of climate change. The program also included sessions on urban planning, blue-green infrastructure, and innovative construction materials.

There was no shortage of hands-on elements: the Hauraton workshop and the symbolic opening of a rain garden provided practical insights and inspiration. The choice of Poznań as the host city held special significance — it has long been developing pioneering stormwater management systems, and its experience now serves as a reference point for other cities in Poland.

The conference motto, “What to Do with This Rain?”, aptly captured the spirit of the 2024 edition — a focus on finding concrete, proven answers to questions about the role of stormwater in urban climate adaptation.
