Suresh is associated as Programme Lead at the International Water Association based at London. He has over 25+ years of experience working with development sector (INGO and global think tanks) strategic planning, fund raising, operational management, leading large programme teams and people management working in different cultural contexts. This includes considerable research and teaching experience with reputed universities (in U.K and India)as well as working with Central / State and local government in India. During past 12 years also closely working with development sector government / non -government organisations and universities in Africa ( South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania) and South Asia ( Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka aimed at mainstreaming environmental and water sustainability in human settlements. Currently he is involved in establishing a global platform for scaling up water – sanitation sensitive design and planning for sustainable urban development and infrastructure in developing world countries and addressing inclusion aimed to help achieve SDG goals and adapt to the climate change impacts. Some of his previous assignments include Senior Director & Academic Director at the Centre for Science and Environment, Delhi ( 2009-22), Director – Environment & Development at the Worldwide Fund for Nature – India (2007-09), Senior Lecturer at University of Bradford at United Kingdom (2006-07) and Technical Director – National Capital Region Planning Board (1997-2002). His current interests are : Planning for water – sanitation sensitive, resilient and inclusive cities; promoting nature based solutions for sustainable cities and improved river health in urban environment. He holds a Phd from Queen’s University Belfast and regularly writes for the peer reviewed publications
