Wojciech Szpakowski is a graduate of Gdańsk University of Technology, holding a PhD in Environmental Engineering as well as a degree in Civil Engineering.
As Technical Director at the municipal company Gdańskie Wody, he is responsible for water management matters in Gdańsk, including crisis-response activities during extreme weather events. Since 2018, together with his team, he has been implementing a stormwater management system based on a three-stage model that uses green infrastructure to retain water. Together with the Gdańskie Wody team, he is also involved in organizing the cyclical conference “Green Retention” (Zielona Retencja).
He is the author or co-author of more than 50 scientific and educational publications in the fields of hydraulics, hydrology, hydrogeology, water management, and expert reports. He lectures in full-time and postgraduate programmes at Gdańsk University of Technology, focusing on the legal aspects of water management.
