Extreme hydrological events are increasingly affecting the functioning of Polish cities. Prolonged periods of drought alternate with intense rainfall, overloading infrastructure and creating real risks for residents. The “Drought, Flood, and the Future of Water” session focuses on the need to view these phenomena together—not as separate issues, but as two sides of the same climate crisis.

Experts will discuss solutions that enable both the retention of water during shortages and the safe management of its excess. A key element of the session will be examining the issue from multiple perspectives—technical, systemic, and legislative—including insights from policymakers and lawmakers, providing a better understanding of the directions of future regulations and public policies.
